How to Prepare Kale Yeah Turkey Burgers
Prep time: 4 min
Cook time: 5 min
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 4 Trifecta turkey burger patties
- 4 sourdough or whole-wheat buns
- 1 cup kale slaw mix or cruciferous slaw mix
- ½ cup cilantro, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ avocado
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1 red or yellow onion, sliced
- 1-2 Roma tomatoes, sliced
Tools
- Non-stick skillet
- Grill
- Knife and cutting board
Step 1: Fire up the Grill
Get your grill fired up and gather your mise en place, this will prevent you from having to walk away from the grill while you are cooking.
Mise en place is a french culinary term meaning "to put in place"; aka gather all of your ingredients and tools before you start the cooking process.
Step 2: Prepare the Slaw
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the pre-cut kale slaw with the avocado, lime juice, minced garlic, cilantro, and a pinch of salt. Gently massage with a pair of tongs to soften the kale and mix the slaw.
Pro tip: use a microplane or small grater to 'mince' the garlic into the slaw.
Step 3: Grill and Go
Once the grill is hot, toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1 minute.
Grill the patties for 1-2 minutes per side until charred and warmed through.
Remove from the grill and place onto a toasted bun and top with slaw, tomato, onion, and 1-2 tablespoons of your favorite condiment.
No Grill, No Problem!
Simply microwave your trifecta turkey patties for 2 minutes, or sear the patties in a skillet by over medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes per side.
Toast your bun in a toaster or toaster oven for 2-3 minutes, and then build your burger!
