A little about Air Fryers...
Air fryers are tiny, powerful ovens that use hot air to cook your food. The convenience and quick cleaning leads to less time meal prepping and more time for yourself.
As a professional chef, I have to admit I was not into air fryers when they first started getting some hype; who needs more kitchen appliances, right? After using and experimenting with a friend's, I loved the crunchy textures the machine created and the oil-less frying, plus ease of use!
The main benefit of an air fryer is the crispiness achieved with minimal oil compared to typical frying.
If you don’t own an air fryer, no worries, you can achieve a somewhat similar effect by using the broil function on your oven. Make sure you place the rack directly in the center, and not too close to the top for optimal caramelization.
Glazed for Days
Utilizing an air-fryer is a remarkable way to prepare your Trifecta meals or Meal Prep Proteins. To take your proteins to an even higher level, choose a sauce or glaze to pair with your protein to enhance flavor and nutrition. The options are endless. Here are a few favorites of mine:
- Sesame Ginger Glaze
- Zhoug Sauce Recipe
- Romesco Sauce Recipe
- Vegan Pistachio Pesto Recipe
- Aged Balsamic Vinegar
Before cooking, start off by brushing your protein in the sauce and then air frying; add more sauce once it's cooked and out of the air-fryer.
How to Prepare Flawless Air-Fried Salmon Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 - 4 oz Trifecta Meal Prep salmon fillets
- ½ cup Garlic Ginger Sauce or glaze of your choice
Kitchen Equipment:
- Small bowl and whisk
- Knife and cutting board
- 1-2 sheet trays
- Air-Fryer
Step 1: Prep your Sauce & Set Up your Air Fryer in a Clean Space
Plug in your air fryer and select the fish setting, if available. Otherwise, set the air-fryer to 400 F degrees for 4 minutes.
Prepare your sauce as indicated by the Garlic Ginger Sauce recipe above. Set aside until needed. On a sheet tray, brush your salmon with the glaze and then transfer to the air-fryer basket. Lock-in the basket and press start.
Step 2: Air Fry Salmon and Eat!
After 4 minutes your Trifecta Salmon should have a caramelized outside with just the right amount of crisp, and a warmed-through interior! Using a fish spatula, carefully remove from the air-fryer and top with extra sauce if desired.
For a quick meal add some Trifecta broccoli in the air-fryer with the salmon and serve with reheated Trifecta brown rice
Storing, Serving, Reheating
Air-fried salmon is always best served fresh out of the fryer. Serve it immediately or if meal prepping, cool down and store in the fridge in an air-tight container.
