About this Recipe
No more grill-and-chill parties with animal-based proteins taking center stage. Thanks to Beyond Meat, plant-based eaters can enjoy a bigger and better burger.
Beyond Burgers have 20 grams of plant-based protein per patty, no GMOs, soy or gluten.
Growing up my parents actually prepared portobello burgers fairly often. I enjoyed them but always felt like they were missing a little something - the flat, shriveled mushroom was not enough to impress by itself. (Sorry mom and dad, you know I love ya'lls cooking).
This veggie burger recipe is a homage to the mushroom burgers I ate as a kid, packed with more protein, flavor, and finesse.
The secret sauce was born from the miss-match of condiments many of us like to douse our food in. It’s the kind of sauce that when you mix it together, people look at you and think, “that can’t possibly be good”, but yet, it’s delicious!
How to Prepare Beyond Meat Mushroom Burger Recipe
Prep time: 4 minCook time: 5 min
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 4 Trifecta beyond meat patties
- 1 cup Trifecta portobello mushrooms, or 2 cups whole cremini mushrooms
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
Secret Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons Coconut Aminos
- 1 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
- 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
- 1 tablespoon vegan mayo
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon raw sugar or brown sugar
Tools
- Small bowl and whisk
- Knife and Cutting Board
- Grill
Step 1: Get Saucy
To prepare the sauce, whisk together the ingredients in a small bowl. Add minced fresh herbs such parsley or basil for additional flavor.
Set aside until you're ready to serve your burgers.
Step 2: Preheat your Grill
If you’re preparing the beyond meat burgers on a grill, preheat your grill and give the grates a small brush of oil to prevent the patties from sticking.
Step 3: Grill and go
Once your grill is hot, grill the hamburgers for 1 minute then flip, and grill for another 2 minutes.
The only time you should touch your burger is when you flip it, don’t move it and touch it often; this ensures all of the juices stay inside the burger and it cooks evenly.
No grill? No problem! Trifecta burgers can be warmed up in the microwave for 2 minutes or on the stove-top in a skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes per side.
Step 4: Cook Your Mushrooms
If you’re heating up Trifecta Portebello mushrooms, make a small tray out of foil and place on the grill. Add your mushrooms to the tray along with the impossible sauce and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
If you’re grilling fresh portobello mushrooms, follow these steps:
- Remove the stem, and with a paper towel rubb of any dirt from the cap
- Brush them with the sauce then grill from 2-3 minutes per side, brushing with the sauce 2-3 times during the process.
- Feel free to add spices such as smoked paprika or herbs like rosemary to enhance the flavor.
Step 5: Build Your Burger
Grab your toasted buns and top with your grilled burger patty, the warmed portobello, spinach, and sliced onion. Enjoy!
